Body work that honors your horse's structure and spirit

You know that there are many ways stress and pain show up in your horse’s body.  Tension in movement; inefficient, stilted gait; bad habits;  not responding to commands, unwillingness to perform old tasks, inability to learn new ones.  Their problems can be from old injuries, emotional traumas, previous poor training.

I utilize two powerful modes of body work – The Equine Natural Movement Series and Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy -- to release  restrictions due to trauma or injury.  Once the restrictions are gone, the pain and tension is diminished, your horse’s movements become freer and more graceful, his attitude easier and joyous.

As opposed to just working directly on the muscles, both the Equine Natural Movement Series and Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy work on the horse’s nervous system and fascial/connective tissue systems to promote deeper lasting healing in their bodies.

What is the Equine Natural Movement Series (ENMS)?

In the early 90’s Hellerworker Joseph Freeman decided to bring his knowledge of structural integration bodywork on humans to horses.  When he started seeing his equine clients go from fourth place to blue ribbons, he realized that his method of bodywork needed to be shared.   He opened a school and has been training practitioners around the United States.

The Equine Natural Movement Series draws on the knowledge of equine behavior and utilizes a respectful touch in order to establish a deep bond of trust with the horse.  Once we determine the patterns of stress and pain, we take the horse through a series of treatments, each building on the other as we systematically “unwrap” accumulated restrictions due to injury or trauma.  In the process, the horse is able to neurologically integrate the release of stresses and pains and can create new, freer patterns of motion that allow them to reach beyond performance plateaus.  Your horse gets a better sense of his own body in relation to gravity, the rider and movement.  He comes into balance with ease which allows for an increase of power and rhythmic grace.

What is Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy (ECST)?

Developed by John Upledger, Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy focuses more on the horse’s nervous system.  Utilizing a very light touch (5 gm) the practitioner engages the cranial sacral system – the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.  It promotes endorphin release which creates a state of calmness and ease – like hitting the reset button for your horse’s nervous system.  Once your horse’s nervous system becomes more balanced, they are able to release tensions and strains with gentle guidance.   ECST complements the body’s natural healing process, helps support the immune system and diminishes inflammation.
